About Me
I am an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist, working as an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist means I combine different therapeutic tools and approaches to fit the needs of the individual client. I would describe my particular style of counselling and psychotherapy as an integration of humanistic theories, psychoanalytic theories, in particular self psychology, with an emphasis on the therapeutic relationship.
I work with adults of all ages and offer counselling and psychotherapy on a long-term and short-term basis.
Over the years I have worked in the voluntary sector and in private practice where I have gained insight and experience of working with a wide range of issues. Some of the areas where I have particular experience are rape and sexual violence, adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse, trauma, shame, guilt and embarrassment, bereavement, anxiety and anxiety disorders, depression, panic attacks and panic disorders, relationship problems, identity issues, feelings of loss or feeling sad and empty.
As a counsellor and psychotherapist, I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and I abide by their codes of ethics (BACP Registered Member: 63026 MBACP)
I hold the following professional qualifications and have completed the following continued professional development modules:
- Introduction to Counselling (2006)
- CPCAB Certificate in Counselling Skills- Level 2 (2006)
- CPCAB Certificate in Counselling Studies- Level 3 (2007)
- BSc (Hons) in Counselling & Psychotherapy- Sherwood Psychotherapy Institute (2010-2013)
- Rape & Sexual Abuse/Violence Training (2011)
